“两挑一”还是“两者都”

Either通常的意思是“两者中的任何一个”,即“两挑一”,如:
1.Come on Tuesday or Wednesday. Either day is OK.
(星期二来或星期三来都可以。)
2. I have bought two tickets. You may take either of them.
(我买了两张票,你可任挑一张。)
Either…or更清楚地表示了“两挑一”,如:
3. You can take either the blue one or the green one.
(你可以拿蓝色的或拿绿色的)
如果既表示“两者挑一”又表示“两者都”
但是either偶尔也可靠示“两者都”可以同时用either…or和both,如:
4. Either your mother or your father, or both parents may come.(你母亲或父亲来,或者都来。)
但是either偶尔也可以表示“两者都”,特别是在后边接end和side这两个词时,如:
5.On either side(=On both sides)of the river lie corn fields. (河的两边都是玉米地。)
6. There was an arm chair at either end(=at both ends)of the table. (桌子两头都有扶手椅子。)
7. Either of them won a medal. (它们两人各赢的一块奖牌。)
