“两挑一”还是“两者都”

Either通常的意思是“两者中的任何一个”，即“两挑一”，如：
1．Come on Tuesday or Wednesday. Either day is OK．
（星期二来或星期三来都可以。)
2. I have bought two tickets. You may take either of them.
(我买了两张票，你可任挑一张。)
Either…or更清楚地表示了“两挑一”，如：
3. You can take either the blue one or the green one．
（你可以拿蓝色的或拿绿色的)
如果既表示“两者挑一”又表示“两者都”
但是either偶尔也可靠示“两者都”可以同时用either…or和both，如：
4. Either your mother or your father, or both parents may come.（你母亲或父亲来，或者都来。）
但是either偶尔也可以表示“两者都”，特别是在后边接end和side这两个词时，如：
5．On either side(=On both sides)of the river lie corn fields. （河的两边都是玉米地。)
6. There was an arm chair at either end(=at both ends)of the table. （桌子两头都有扶手椅子。）
7. Either of them won a medal. （它们两人各赢的一块奖牌。）
