Never forget the lesson

宋量量

Since we entered the senior middle school everyone has the problem where to lay so many text books and exercise books. In order to keep the classroom neat and tidy we are not allowed to lay a lot of things on our desk. The drawer of each desk is so small that it can only hole a few thin books. So each of us us seen to carry a big bag full of books when we go to school or come back home. Thus it is easy for us to forget to bring all these things needed for the class. But this has never happened to me. With the help of my mother I have get used to putting all things into the bag the previous day before I go to bed. On the contrary my desk mate seems to be forgetful. He oftenb forgets to bring something necessary for class. Sometimes he leaves his pen or ruler at home, sometimes even a textbook. Every time when he finds something left at home I always have a good laugh at him and beast of (吹嘘)my own memory before letting him use mine.

One day something unexpected happened. That day when I came into the classroom, four big words on the blackboard came into my eyes: ”HAND IN YOUR COMPOSITION!” At once I realized that I left mu finished composition at home. I dared not let my desk mate know it fir U was afraid if being laughed at by him. How I wish I had not laughed at him.

What could I do then? Going back---impossible. A round trip would take me at least half an hour. Telling the teacher the truth was also of no use. Our teacher of Chinese always regards such words as a lie if I say, “I have really finished writing it. I left it at home.”

I had no choice but to use the breaks between classes to write again. Happily for me, my classmate went out as soon as class was over. I succeeded in keeping the secret. Although I managed to avoid(避免)from being laughed at, I made up my mind never to boast of myself again and never to laugh at others any more.
