One afternoon my father-in-law (my husband's father) dropped in and brought with him some peaches (桃子)he had just picked from the trees in his garden . He asked me if I'd bake(烤) him a peach pie (馅饼).I gladly said I would and the next day I gave him the pie.
My father-in-law is such a man that it's next to impossible to hear him sing praises to somebody, but he told me how good the pie tasted. I smiled with pride, until he added, "guess, I picked those peaches at the right time."
